Sustainable Development Goals

Ocean Plastic Recovery

Oceans give us most of the oxygen we breathe, help regulate our climate and give us food. Plastic is choking the ocean and the volumes of plastic waste reaching the oceans every day is staggering. PlanatEarth aims to prevent plastic from reaching the ocean as well as ocean plastic recovery.

Mangrove Restoration

Mangroves protect our shores from erosion and tidal surges like hurricanes. These resilient trees are the nurseries for countless species of fish and crustaceans. They also trap more carbon than land forests. Planatearth carries out Advocacy and Awareness programs among school children to create and spread awareness about the need to protect and restore these amazing plants.

Water

All life depends on water. In fact, water is indeed life. PlanatEarth takes up projects that focus on water conservation which include rain water harvesting, grey water treatment and simply Turn off Tap campaigns because every drop matters.

Sustainable Communities

Only when communities adopt practices like responsible consumption and the principles of Reduce, Reuse, Refuse and Rethink can they become sustainable. Less waste means tons of resources conserved be it in the form of material or energy. Hence through meticulously planned awareness drives, sensitization programs and capacity building workshops PlanatEarth strives to make communities sustainable.

Wetland Conservation

Starting with the second biggest Ramsar Site in India – the Vembanad-Kol Wetlands, Planatearth has started to work on wetland conservation which includes spreading awareness among communities on the importance to protect wetlands as well as assisting in pond revival and restoration activities.

Climate Action

Focusing on both Mitigation as well as Adaptation strategies, PlanatEarth aims at making vulnerable communities resilient which includes relief and rehabilitation programs for Flood Affected people, proper waste management techniques to reduce carbon emissions.

Plastic Waste Management

Plastic when managed is not the enemy. When unmanaged it either ends up in the ocean or become a source of black carbon when landfills catch fire. While Recycling seems like a good solution, PlanatEarth subscribes and promotes strategies of Reduce and Reuse and Refuse and Repurpose as better ways to manage plastic.

Social Forestry

Trees are probably the panacea for almost all the environmental problems the planet is facing be it droughts, loss of biodiversity, carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere and climate change. Hence PlanatEarth takes up all kinds of social forestry and other tree growing campaigns.
